Delta Delta Delta – Recruitment
TIPS & GUIDELINES
(very strongly encouraged!)
General:
- Please have all references and letters in the mail to Courtney Boswell by July 15 for Fall Recruitment. There is no exception to this!
- A girl is only a legacy if her mother or sister was a Tri Delta… as well as step-mothers and step-sisters if the Tri Delta relative chooses. Grandmothers, aunts, and cousins do not apply for legacy status but are always helpful to know!
- Do NOT include stamped envelopes addressed to the chapters with your completed references. It is a waste of money. All references and letters for each school are sent together. *However, it is polite for a Potential New Member to send a stamped envelope with a resume, picture, and transcript to the alum that is writing a reference or letter. Please address those envelopes to Courtney Boswell.
- If you are writing a reference or letter for an out of town girl, please try to locate their local alumni chapter. After you have looked (www.tridelta.org) and still can’t find one, please contact Courtney Boswell on how to proceed. If we have local girls going to those schools, they can be included in our packet but otherwise it would be best if they went straight to the chapter.
- If at all possible, include a photograph with references and letters. The picture should be of just the girl, not her cheerleading squad or soccer team. If you want to include group shots, those would be in addition to one clear (not a copy) close-up picture.
References:
- MOST IMPORTANT!! Do NOT write “see attached” or anything of the sort on the reference!! One of the main purposes of a reference is to highlight a girl going through Recruitment and make it easy for the actives to sort through the hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of references they receive. You want the girl’s information to be clear, concise, and jump off the front page of that form! Making the actives fumble through pages and pages of stuff is not beneficial to anyone except the person writing the reference… which is NOT the point!
- Do not staple the resume, pictures, and transcripts to the reference. Please use a paperclip.
- If you do not have good penmanship, please type. There are lots of electronic versions of the form online. (www.nashvilledeltas.com or www.tridelta.org)
Letters:
- Please be sure to note the Potential New Member’s full name, high school, and college somewhere in the letter. It doesn’t necessarily have to be in the body of the letter but easy for the actives to see. It is important for the actives to know who you are recommending!
